Exchange students are well known for their partying skills, thus one can see them at many parties during the semester. However they have also demonstrated their high affinity in social projects last week. Helping out and engaging when it is needed is not only crucial, but also a good practice of many exchanges.

We organized a Social Erasmus project at the Caritas / train station to help refugees who just arrived in Linz. More than 15 exchange students have participated, and even more are willing to help out sometimes during the semester. We were able to buy food thanks to the budget from the kitchen auction at the very beginning of the semester, but we mainly helped out by teaching.

This event was a first step to establish a stronger cooperation between social organizations and exchange students. In the future, we would be happy to establish a social Erasmus network, through which exchange students can easily participate in social projects in Austria.
